In Taliban-ruled Swat Valley, Pakistan, girls were banned from going to school. But a teenage girl, Malala, refused to give up her right to learn. She was shot in the head in 2012 by extremists while riding a school bus. Miraculously, she survived and became a global symbol of education and peace. At 17, she became the youngest-ever Nobel Peace Prize winner.
